A material which results from chemical and/or enzymatic hydrolysis of clean and undecomposed animal tissue. The animal tissues used shall be exclusive of hair, horns, teeth, hooves, and feathers.
Animal digest does not specify the source species, making it impossible to trace or verify quality. It is essentially a palatability enhancer made from chemically or enzymatically broken-down animal tissues of unspecified origin. Pets with food allergies cannot safely consume products with generic animal digest since the protein source is unknown.
