AAFCO defines two nutrient profiles: "growth and reproduction" (for puppies, kittens, pregnant and nursing animals) and "adult maintenance" (for healthy adult animals not pregnant or nursing). "All life stages" formulas meet the stricter growth requirements and are appropriate for both. Senior, weight-management, and breed-specific labels are marketing categories — they don't correspond to additional AAFCO profiles.
